A clear October day by the Main

We had a week of what we Southerners call Indian Summer. As the cold grey days are coming quickly, we spend every minute out of doors. Last week we went down to Alt Fechenheim. Frankfurt has gobbled up a lot of smaller villages around but they still maintain their small town atmosphere. This one was a former factory town complete with company housing. In the last century, horses pulled the river barges down stream and the old trails are still there.
This is the end of the trolley line coming out from Frankfurt am Main.
The trail down the river is soft walking and so beautiful. Saw fishermen, barges and wild swans. The willow trees on the waterside are HUGE, like this one.
After a brisk walk we returned to the village and searched out a coffee place. We passed the old village center with the "company" housing on the edge. A few of the old (1600) houses exist and are now shops.
This is my first attempt at blogging so be patient with me. I think you have the option to respond as well
